About the Department

  • Goals and Objectives :

To effectively diagnose and surgically treat various diseases, injuries and defects involving the oro-facial region.

To create an environment for quality research among faculty and students

To update the department with latest equipment & technology

  • Establishment  :1992
  • Infrastructure : Total built up area : 18,541.00 Sq.ft.
  • Total area (2000Sq.ft) excluding O.T. Complex & Patient wards as per DCI regulations


  • Facilities available:
        • The Department has 52 dental chairs for undergraduate & post graduate students and faculty
  • The Department comprises of a fully functional minor surgical operation theatre
  • The Department is equipped with state of the art equipments such a operating loupes, implant kit, oscillating saw (Zimmer), diode laser and piezo surgical unit
  • Teaching material consists of books, journals, library dissertation, dissertations and online resources. Computers, LCD Projector, Scanner and Printer facilities available.

Clinical Activities

  • OPD timings: 9.00am-3.30pm
  • Casualty on-call: 2 post graduate students and 1 staff member are posted on rotation to attend patients reporting to the casualty
  • Minor surgical procedures like suturing, simple wiring and dressings are performed in the casualty and the patient is admitted when more complex treatments are indicated.
  • Consultations with other dental and medical specialities and pre-anesthetic evaluation for patients posted for surgery under general anesthesia.
  • No. of Patients per day- average of 108 patients per day
  • Special Clinics- CAD patients (1 Staff Posted in the CAD Department on rotation)

Outreach and community services

  • Post graduate students and staff members attend dental screening and treatment camps on a weekly basis
  • Cleft lip and palate screening camps are conducted by the Centre for Craniofacial Anomalies along with setting up of cleft information centres in various districts of Karnataka
